Poverty Council to Meet (Unofficially) at the Democratic National Committee for Political Strategy 2020

 

Federal, state and local elected officials, staff of presidential candidates, and national leaders on homelessness and poverty will meet at the Washington D.C. Marriott Marquis to develop a national legislative and political strategy on poverty leading into the 2020 election cycle. 

 

WHEN: Friday February 15, 2019 – 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Open to the public.

WHAT: Poverty Council – Inaugural Meeting:

 

        The Poverty Council, held concurrently with the Democratic National Committee 

        winter meeting (not an official Democratic Party event), is designed to build 

        political power and to create a national legislative agenda for 40.6 million people 

        living at or below the poverty level. The Council was created by a unanimous 

        vote of the DNC in August 2018. The DNC did not place the council 

        on the official agenda and the room was booked with funds from supporters. 

 

WHO: Federal, state and local elected officials, national stakeholder organizations and those impacted by poverty.
