Bruce Ellig selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)

Ellig, Former Worldwide Head of Human Resources for Pfizer was just recently selected for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to the industry and to his community. 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members are selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award.  These special honorees are distinguished based on their longevity in their fields, their contributions they have made to society and the impact they had on their industries.  Mr. Ellig was just recently honored at IAOTP’s annual awards gala at the Plaza Hotel where he received Top HR Executive of the Year and he will be honored at IAOTP’s 2019 Annual Awards Gala being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas at the end of this year.   www.iaotp.com/award-gala  

Mr. Ellig is being recognized for this distinction for his longevity of dedicating over 30 years to Pfizer, his many past achievements, successes and impact he has made on his community.  

Mr. Ellig was born October 15, 1936 in Manitowoc Wisconsin. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin in 1959 and 1960 where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. The President of IAOTP Stephanie Cirami stated “Choosing Mr. Ellig for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make.  His list of past accomplishments, awards, accolades are very impressive, he is brilliant, humble, gracious and has always paid it forward with his generous benefactions.  We are honored to have him receive our Lifetime Achievement Award and cannot wait to celebrate his success at this year’s gala.” 

Bruce started at Pfizer as a personnel assistant and worked his way up to serving as former worldwide head of human resources for one of America’s leading pharmaceutical companies in the world, Pfizer.  Serving that company for over 3 decades, Mr. Ellig has certainly proven himself as an expert in the field.  As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Mr. Ellig has demonstrated success in every position held at Pfizer.  Mr. Ellig’s impressive repertoire of prior roles with the company included, vice president of compensation and benefits, he was the first corporate officer in the US with that title, vice president of employee relations and personnel, and as vice president of employee resources reporting to the Company’s Chairman and CEO.  Mr. Ellig was also Secretary to the Board of Directors Executive Compensation Committee. 

Throughout his impressive career, Bruce has received many awards, and been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. In 2019 he graced the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and is now receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award by IAOTP.  In 2018 he was selected as Top HR Executive of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals and in 2017 he was recognized by Marquis Who’s Who as an industry leader and awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He received the Distinguished Business Alumnus Award from the University of Wisconsin’s School of Business in 2007 and in 2004.  He funded the Bruce R. Ellig Distinguished Chair in Pay and Organizational Effectiveness in the Business School at the University of Wisconsin and he also established the Bruce R. Ellig Scholarship Fund for the Business School students. Bruce has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.  

Bruce was Board Chairman with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), and he is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources. Other boards include, Dean’s Advisory Board for the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin for the Global Remuneration Organization and the Kentucky Educational TV. 

Aside from his successful career, Bruce is a speaker and author of 10 books. His most recent books are entitled “American History Impact on Employee Pay and Benefits” 3rd edition, and “The Complete Guide to Executive Compensation” 3rd edition.  Bruce has served as a contributing author for numerous books, served on the advisory board for the journal of Compensation and Benefits for over a decade, authored and co-authored more than 100 articles in various peer reviewed journals in his area and participated in more than 400 presentations.  Bruce has also frequently appeared on TV and on Radio. 

Looking back, Bruce attributes his success to his education, mentors he had along the way and staying passionate in all of his endeavors.  He says he has been blessed; he loved the work he did and feels this is just the beginning. He looks forward to continue to fund student scholarships at the University of Wisconsin. Now retired Bruce and his wife Janice enjoy traveling all over the world having visited 150 countries together.  His wife had a successful corporate career and now is CEO of the Ellig Group, an executive search firm.  Bruce considers Janice his best friend and soul mate. He has a bucket list and has done almost all the items on the list. He continues to be an avid reader of several hundred books a year.
