RGBSI is proud to announce its collaboration with Goodwin College in creating the “RGBSI Robotics & Automation Center of Excellence” to support student education in advanced manufacturing technology. The robotics center is located in the Goodwin College Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Technologies in Hartford, CT.
A ribbon cutting was held on Friday, March 15th to inaugurate the new advanced manufacturing center. Susan Bysiewicz, Lt. Governor of Connecticut, Mark Scheinberg, President of Goodwin College, and Ravi Kumar, President & CIO of RGBSI, were featured speakers at the event. In addition, Fanuc America provided an onsite demo of the Fanuc SCARA Robot in the lab.Through partnership, RGBSI and Goodwin College are working together to develop training curriculum that aligns with industry demand for digital manufacturing skill sets. This facility is instrumental in providing academic credentials for undergraduates to fully grasp robotics and its dynamic role in manufacturing today. The partnership between RGBSI and Goodwin College is a new solution to the skilled manufacturing labor shortage.

The robotics and automation center includes hardware such as robot controllers, specialized electrical PLC transformers, end of arm tooling, holding fixtures, peripherals, and storage. With the high demand for trained technicians in product development, the facility provides a workroom for students to conduct simulations with robotics programming, maintenance, and tooling. In response to the advancements in manufacturing processes, the center serves as a foreground for students to become accustom with modern day technology and its application in engineering practices.
