While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only 1 Author is selected for this distinction.  Regina is being recognized for this honor for dedicating over 40 years to Education and to writing.  She was just recently honored at IAOTP’s 2018 Annual Awards Gala at the Plaza Hotel in NYC, where she was honored for her selection for The Empowered Woman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement and Top Children’s Author of the Year. IAOTP is incredibly honored to be able to recognize Regina for her success and dedication.  She will be honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas at the end of this year for this distinction.  www.iaotp.com/award-gala

With almost 4 decades of professional experience teaching elementary school first in Bethpage, Long Island and later in Virginia Beach, VA, Regina has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Regina has demonstrated success not only with her teaching career, but also with her poetry and co-authoring her children’s book series.  Regina and co-author/illustrator Carolyn Royer Spencer spoke from personal experience in their writing.  Their two recently published works in this series focus on the topic of bullying, a growing epidemic that is haunting our schools, worksites, online media, pretty much everywhere.  Regina’s published works are an excellent resource for anyone that works with children especially teachers, guidance counselors, parents, grandparents etc.  In addition to writing, Regina is a regular invited speaker on radio interviews about her anti-bullying books, and host anti-bullying assemblies and readings at local schools.  It is her sincere wish to show how bullying affects all ages and how destructive it can be to an individual’s physical and psychological well-being.  Regina hopes that her work can open up dialogue on the problem of bullying, which has become an epidemic in our society.

Regina received her Master’s from Hofstra University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from St. John’s University. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Regina for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is talented, humble, gracious, and brilliant at what she does.  We felt she would make an amazing asset to our organization and feel that when it comes to bullying, it is an international problem that needs to be addressed and should be given an international platform.  It was great to spend time with her at the gala and cannot wait to celebrate her again at this year’s gala.”

Throughout her illustrious career Regina has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. For 2018 she graced the front cover of TIP (Top Industry Professional ) Magazine and received IAOTP’s Lifetime Achievement Award.  For 2017 she was selected as Top Children’s Author of the Year by IAOTP and Outstanding Professional of the Year by Bristol Who’s Who, Madison Who’s Who and Continental Who’s Who. She was also named Reading Teacher of the Year at Newtown Road Elementary in Virginia Beach. Her most recent book “Lord Computesalot, Ruler of Aurora Bullyalis, and His Secret Quest to End Bullying has been featured in “The Daily News,” and received Honorable Mention at the 2013 J M Northern Halloween Book Festival in Hollywood.  All three of her anti-bullying books have been featured in “The Virginian Pilot” newspaper and the Close-Up Newsletter.  Along with her co-author and illustrator Carolyn Royer Spencer, she was featured in a series of radio interviews with Jim Masters of Close-Up TV/News Radio. Regina is a Board Member of the Cape Charles Historical Society, member of the Red Hats, International Reading Association, Virginia Beach Education Association, and National Education Association.

Looking back, Regina attributes her success to her training, her perseverance, mentors she has had along the way, and her passion for what she does.  She enjoys reading, writing and travelling.  For the future, she will continue to grow as a professional and wants to continue to make a difference in people’s lives any way she can.
