New State of Agile Report Confirms Scrum’s Supremacy

United States, Connecticut, Portland – 05-07-2019 (PRDistribution.com) — CollabNet VersionOne has released the 13th State of Agile report and one of its main conclusions is that Scrum and hybrids incorporating Scrum are still by far the most commonly used Agile approaches.

Due to its history and the size of the sample, the State of Agile is usually considered the highest authority in Agile and this year’s report is shedding light on some truly interesting trends, as well as a few old ones. The Report once again confirms that Scrum and Agile hybrids that include Scrum are still predominant in application, together making up more than 85 percent of all practical use of agile.Milos Janjic, CTO of VivifyScrum, a company behind the eponymous project management tool which started off as a Scrum tool says that this is not surprising, “Scrum has traditionally been the most widely adopted agile approach and for a wide variety of reasons. What is interesting to see is how large organizations are trying to handle the scaling of their Scrum efforts and whether a clear winner will appear here as well.”According to the report, the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®, for short) and Scrum of Scrums are currently the most commonly used scaling approaches. This year’s State of Agile has shown an increased interest (more than 70 percent when compared with last year) in reducing project costs and expecting Agile to be the way to do this. The report does its trademark great job of finding out the reasons for doing agile and the benefits that the organizations are reaping. For the first time, special emphasis is also put on DevOps and the ever-growing number of organizations that are starting their own DevOps initiatives. You can read the report in its entirety here.
