WARRINGTON, PA – 06-21-2019 (PRDistribution.com) — Rosemarie Kaupp, Writer & Author of the “The Amberella Tales” a series of children’s books, and blogger for “May Your Laughter Live” a Blog for Bereaved Parents, was just recently selected as Empowered Woman of the Year for 2019 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her dedication, commitment and outstanding leadership to empower women globally.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few women are chosen for this distinction based on their years of experience in the field, professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, and contributions to their communities. These are truly incredibly talented women who have dedicated their life to their work and have had a lifetime of achievement and success in a male dominated industry!

In 2018 Rosemarie Kaupp was honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala for her selection as Top Children’s Author of the Year, at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. For 2019, she will be honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas for her selection for the Empowered Woman of the Year Award. www.iaotp.com/award-gala

Originally starting as a school nurse over 24 years ago, Rosemarie always played an integral part of children’s lives every day. From tending to their cuts, scrapes, headaches and belly aches, she wasn’t just there to call parents to come pick children up. She aided with child development and gave children a sense of protection, a safe haven where they would be taken care of, loved and nurtured. With her professional experience and longevity of taking care of children, Rosemarie decided to pick up pen and paper and write.

It was January of 2012 that Rosemarie wrote her first Children’s Book “Amberella in the City,” which is part of a three book series of the “Amberella Tales” for children ages 5 to 9. Thestories teach children the values of love and security, friends, belonging and acceptance. Her second book was published in May of 2013 “Amberella and Double Double Trouble,” and Rosemarie is currently working on a third book, “Amberella and the Troublesome Nine.” According to Rosemarie, “Children enjoy being able to relate to the challenges they are experiencing in their own lives.” From her experience with children her entire professional life, it was second nature for her to write for them. She has a full grasp on what children like, what they don’t like and what they are looking for when they read.

Rosemarie was inspired to write “The Amberella Tales” after losing her son Chris when he was only 23 years old. The character Chris in her books is based on her son and Amberella is based on her own dog, Amber. Rosemarie recalls loving to read to her son and she remembered how much he enjoyed it too. She said writing gave her a sense of connection to those good memories they shared together. It helped her grieve, but also helped her to move forward with a sense of peace at having memorialized Chris’ life in her book.

In April of 2013, Rosemarie started writing a blog for other parents who have lost their children, kidswritertoyou.blogspot.com. She wanted to inspire parents to navigate their journey of grief in order to find some measure of peace and productivity once again. Rosemarie gives positive encouragement, direction and empathy to these parents who are going through a very dark time in their lives.

Rosemarie lost her son shortly after she had fought for her own life undergoing surgery and chemotherapy for breast cancer. During this time her husband was terminally ill and died six weeks after Chris died. Several weeks after their deaths, Rosemarie says she realized she could choose to let this destroy her or go on with life. She chose to go on.

Rosemarie received her Master’s equivalency in Health Education from Pennsylvania State University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. In August 1970 she started as a Public Health Nurse for the City of Philadelphia offering home nursing, hospice services, mother-infant child services, lead poisoning intervention, child abuse evaluations and reporting and hospice services. In September of 1978 she started as a Certified School Nurse for the School District of Philadelphia where she spent over 24 years of her professional career. In addition to working with young children, Rosemarie had a passion for working with high risk teens in underserved socioeconomic areas. For this reason, she designed a special program and study for the District to identify and intervene with ninth grade students at risk for dropping out of school because of excessive absenteeism due to varied health and social reasons. Her other key responsibilities were state mandated health screening programs; health prevention and education; services for pregnant students, administering prescribed medication; emergency care for student and staff illness and injury, substance abuse prevention and intervention; and management of students with long-term health problems. She also developed a behavior modification diabetic treatment plan in coordination with a behavior modification therapist for an adolescent diabetic student. The student credited this plan with saving her life. After retirement, Rosemarie continued to work part-time in school nursing for a career that spanned 46 years active in nursing.

The President of IAOTP Stephanie Cirami stated, “Choosing Rosemarie for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is humble, gracious, brilliant at what she does and truly defines what an empowered woman is. We are honored to have her with us and excited to celebrate her success at this year’s Annual Awards Gala.

She is an active member with the One Woman One Voice Project and Walk with Women Writing Group.

It is her goal to give children, parents and animal lovers an enjoyable time reading and a cast of memorable characters who become lifelong friends. For the future she aspires to grow as a professional and hopes her books give parents and children special memories to look back on together and to inspire woman to enter the nursingprofession.
