The international competition is looking for whistling aficionados from around the world.
The Masters of Musical Whistling International Competition and Festival, is holding final auditions for its biennial event which will take place at the Pasadena Convention Center on August 23 and 24, 2019. Over sixty whistlers from nine countries are expected to meet and compete in Southern California this year. For a limited time, auditions are still open to all musical whistlers who would like to show their skills and vie for the title of “World Champion.” The Masters of Musical Whistling features five competitive divisions: live band accompaniment (a world exclusive), classical and popular compositions with pre-recorded accompaniment, self-accompaniment, and Allied Arts, which is whistling combined with another performing art or artist. Tickets will also be available for the Whistling Master Class, Whistlers Meet-and-Greet, The International Concert of the Masters – starring mind-blowing world champion whistlers, and other unique performances throughout the weekend. Whistling is weaving its way back into mainstream music. Global competition promotes artist expertise and exposure to the art form. The Masters of Musical Whistling is the only event of its kind in the United States. It attracts accomplished professional whistlers and undiscovered talent from all over the world. Carole Anne Kaufman, two-time world champion musical whistler and international performer known as the Whistling Diva, created The Masters of Musical Whistling in 2015 with a purpose to establish a meeting place for the global whistling community and promote musical whistling as a fine art. “Whistling has been under-appreciated for years despite the fact that it’s the human’s most ancient and universal communication device,” – says Kaufman, who completed her master’s thesis based on whistling as associated with art, culture, communication, and sexism.To audition, contestants need to submit video links via online the application on the website by July 20, 2019.
