Philip Sherrod inducted into the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) Hall of Fame

– 07-24-2019 (PRDistribution.com) — Philip Lawrence Sherrod, Founder of Street Painters, Fine Artist, Composer, Painter, Poet, and Master Teacher, has just recently been inducted into the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) Hall of Fame, for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the Art Industry.

 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only 10 honored IAOTP members are inducted into the exclusive IAOTP’s Hall of Fame.These special honorees are distinguished based on their longevity in their fields, their contributions they have made to society and the impact they had on their industries. With over five decades of professional experience in the Art Industry, Mr. Sherrod has certainly proven himself as a Fine Artist, Painter, Poet, Composer, and Master Teacher. Unique, extraordinary, brilliant and pure genius are just some words that come to mind when describing Mr. Sherrod. He is a true expert and an inspiration to all in the Art Community. As a dynamic results-driven leader, he has demonstrated success not only Founding Street Painters, but also as an Educator and Master Teacher. Mr. Sherrod’s impressive repertoire of prior roles have included the National Academy of Design, School of Fine Arts, Baird Community Center in South Orange NJ, The Art Students League, Visual Arts Center of New Jersey and Morristown Art Association. His areas of expertise are in expressionist city scenes, figure and genre painting, graphics and teaching. Mr. Sherrod is best known for his vibrant use of color expressed in raw and earthy forms via painting and etchings. He has produced hundreds of paintings of city streets, including representations of Coney Island and Times Square in Manhattan, portraits of babies and adults, nudes, animals, and various still objects. As a published poet, Mr. Sherrod has also written dozens of poems, including “Perspective,” “Journey Through Life,” “Freedom,” “Mirrors of The Mind,” and “Dreams of Yesterday” in various publications. 

 

Mr. Sherrod earned his Bachelor of Arts in Art & Painting from Oklahoma State University, a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the Oklahoma State University and had Postgraduate Studies in Painting from the Art Students League, Jacques Seligman College & Carroll Reese Museum. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated that “Choosing Mr. Sherrod for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make. He is a brilliant, talented and a leader in the Art Community. He was exactly what we were looking for and we know we will be seeing more outstanding things from this man.” 

 

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Sherrod has been recognized worldwide for his works and has received numerous awards, accolades and has been featured in several publications, such as Penthouse, The NY Sun, Korea Times, featured in the American Biographical Institute, The Encyclopedia of Living Artists, and the Directory of Distinguished Americans. His works are showcased in Exhibitions, Galleries, Private Shows and Academies all over the world. For 2019 he graced the front cover of T.I.P (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and is receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals. For 2018, he was named Top Artist of the Year by IAOTP. For 2017 received the International Prize Galileo Galilei, Salvatore Russo. For 2016 received the International Prize Tiepolo from Arte Milano, The Canaletto Prize Artistic Career Award, and the International Prize Leonardo Da Vinci, The Universal Artist. For 2015, recipient of the International Prize Michaelangelo, Artists at the Jubilee, Marco Polo International Prize, Art Ambassador of Venice, Prize International Rome Imperial, and Sandro Botticelli Prize of Artistic Merit just to name a few in this past few years. He received a Creative Artists Public Service grant in 1980, an Adolphe/Esther Gottlieb Foundation grant in 1981, 1988, 1996, and 2006, a National Education Association grant in 1982, an American Academy in Rome grant from 1985 to 1986, and The Pollack-Krasner Foundation, Inc. grant in 1989. He is also a three-time recipient of a Purchase Award by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a two-time recipient of a Childe Hassam Purchase Award by the Prixe de Roma. He has been named in close to 20 editions of Who’s Who for his work, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World. Mr. Sherrod is also active with many groups and organizations. He is a Fellow of the American academy in Rome, The Arts Student League, The Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors; National Academy Museum and Treasured Poems of America. 

 

In addition to his work being viewed by millions, Mr. Sherrod’s work has also been featured in theaters, movies, public, private, and corporate collections, such as ABC, Paramount Pictures Productions, INA Corporation, and Custom Communication Systems, while museum collections have included the Smithsonian Institute, Springfield Museum of Fine Art, the National Academy of Design Museum, the Herbert Johnson Museum at Cornell University, and the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University. His hundreds of exhibitions, which date back to 1966, have been shown in galleries all across New York City, as well as in NJ, Nebraska, Boston, San Diego, and Rome, Italy.

 

Aside from Mr. Sherrod’s successful career he is also a world renowned and sought after art lecturer and speaker for numerous organizations, universities, intellectual institutions, and various seminars.

 

Looking back, Mr. Sherrod attributes his success to his perseverance, mentors he has had along the way, and staying passionate in all of his works. When he is not painting, composing or teaching, Mr. Sherrod enjoys fishing. Mr. Sherrod says he has been blessed and he loves doing what he is doing, and feels this is just the beginning. For the future, he will continue to thrive as an Artist and hopes to continue to inspire and make a difference in people’s lives anyway that he can.
