With having over 4 decades of professional experience as a Physician, Surgeon, Missionary and Medical Educator, Dr. Parsons has certainly proven himself as an extraordinary professional, and expert in many fields. Dr. Parsons is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success not only as a doubly board certified Physician, Missionary, and Professor but in every role he has ever held. Dr. Parsons’s impressive repertoire of prior roles have included; Serving in combat as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and rose to the rank of Colonel where he served as Program Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery; earlier he served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico; Clinical Professor at both the University of Colorado and the University of Texas at San Antonio; Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics for the University of Missouri School of Medicine; Clinical Professor at the University of South Carolina and Clinical Professor at the University of North Carolina which he still works in that capacity today.
For the past 31 years Dr. Parsons has also worked as a Christian missionary, acting as a consultant surgeon and President of TIME for Christ Global Ministries in multiple countries including Mexico, Honduras and Cuba. He has been a board member of the Christian Society of Otolaryngology and also served on the Board of Directors for the Comcare International Christian Mission for the Hearing Impaired. As President of TIME for Christ Global Ministries, he actively works with Christian medical missions in Honduras, Mexico, Vietnam, Cuba, Jordan, Israel, Cambodia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Nepal. Dr. Parson’s also works extensively with Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) and Search Ministries.
Dr. Parsons is board certified in both Pediatrics and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, and completed international fellowships in Pediatric Otolaryngology (ENT). He specialized in children and adults with difficult sinus problems, and in Pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat care. He wrote and edited one of the largest selling books in the world on sinus care. Dr. Parsons created six internationally distributed CD-ROMs/DVDs describing comprehensive sinus care emphasizing both the Minimally Invasive Surgical Technique, which he helped develop, and complex airway management in children, especially tiny babies.
Colonel Parsons impressive military background included completing a 26-year Air Force career as the Consultant to the Surgeon General for Head and Neck Surgery, Director of the residency training program and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. He graduated with honors from the School of Aviation Medicine. During his academic military career he simultaneously served as Clinical Professor of both Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Texas-San Antonio and the University of Colorado. After military retirement in 1993, he was the Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics for the University of Missouri. He retired from private practice in 2013 with Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Associates and still serves as Clinical Professor at both the Universities of North and South Carolina.
Dr. Parsons was a USAF fighter pilot in the F-105 Thunderchief, and flew more than 450 combat sorties in the Vietnam War as a forward air controller in the OV-10 Bronco. He won the Top Gun award in 3 different fighter type aircraft and was awarded many honors including three Distinguished Flying Crosses.
Dr. Parsons graduated with honors from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed a pediatric residency in San Antonio and practiced pediatrics in Albuquerque, NM. He became the Chief of Pediatrics, and later the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Kirtland AFB Hospital. Dr. Parsons then did his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Colorado. He completed fellowships in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the Great Ormond Street Hospitals for Sick Children in London, the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia, and The Children’s Hospital in Denver.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Parsons has received many awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. For 2020, he is being considered to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals Magazine), and is also being considered for IAOTP’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be honored at IAOTP’s 2019 Annual awards Gala, being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas for his selection as Top Humanitarian of the Year. The Vietnamese government honored Dr. Parsons with their highest award for his lifetime commitment to the people of Vietnam. He was recognized again with this award in 2016 for further significant lifetime contributions. He received two special international honors in 2002; he received the Distinguished Award for Humanitarian Efforts (“Humanitarian of the year”) by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery for his missionary work in Vietnam, Cuba, Mexico and Cambodia. The same year he was awarded the Sylvan Stool Award by the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children. This award is presented annually to an international medical professional for outstanding lifetime contributions in teaching and service for the care of children. This organization again recognized Dr. Parsons as the Humanitarian of the Year for 2006, and awarded him the Steven Gray Humanitarian Citation. In 2011, he was recognized by Patient’s Choice as one of America’s “Most Compassionate Doctors.” In 2012, the Academy awarded him the Distinguished Service Award. Global Health & Pharma Magazine gave him the Social Care Award for 2017, the United Kingdom’s Humanitarian Award for International Medical Aid.
Dr. Parsons has been selected to multiple “Best Doctors in America” including one that named the top 1000 doctors in America. He has been published with Who’s Who International, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and in 2019 was selected from the top 1% of Who’s Who recipients to receive the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Parsons is in Who’s Who in three categories: Medicine and Healthcare, Education and Humanitarian Service.
Aside from his successful career, Dr. Parsons is a sought after lecturer, speaker, contributor to numerous professional journals and chapters to books. He has designed more than 46 surgical instruments and published over 130 medical articles plus multiple additional non-medical articles. He has lectured internationally in over 23 countries.
Dr. Parsons served on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology and editorially reviewed for six international journals. He served as President of the Society of Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children (SENTAC), and President of the Society of Military Otolaryngologists. He has been on the Board of Directors for the Christian Society of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, SENTAC, the Society of Military Oto/HNS, ComCare International (a hearing aid ministry), and serves as President and Founder of TIME for Christ Global Ministries.
