Local Author Frederica Burden Nominated for Global Award

United States, Florida, Miami Beach – 10-14-2019 (PRDistribution.com) — Frederica Burden, a local Author, Entrepreneur and former Miami Police Department Sgt. & calendar girl, has received a nomination from the Author Academy for a Global award for the flagship book in her Miami Beat series, Miami Beat: The Secret Society.  The nomination comes as no surprise with the fan base the series has built up; almost a cult following that has led to a podcast, fragrance and more.  Nevertheless, is still a great honor, as it’s bestowed to less than a dozen authors annually per category for literary merit and publishing excellence in the writing and publishing industry.  Burden’s category, Best Thriller, fits like a glass slipper in the fairy tale of her rise to success.

Burden’s book is centered around Sidney Stevens, a young woman growing up in Urban Miami, whose father fell victim to Police Brutality as she watched as a child.  Sidney grows up to join the force, possibly to find and confront her father’s killer, and on the way is swept into a whirlwind of drama, action, romance … choices.  The series takes you through the evolution of Burden’s dynamic but relatable characters and makes you wonder … how much of this inspiration was drawn, even loosely, from her time on the force herself?  After all, in her 28 years of service, Frederica has seen her share of Miami’s good and bad. She’s also been an active community member, mentor, motivational speaker and managed to raise 3 boys just outside of the chaos in her small, Pembroke Pines community, her Eldest following in her footsteps joining law enforcement just after college while her youngest, twin boys, are in their first year of University with budding football careers.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of books are submitted for nomination for an Author Academy Award, from Indie and Self Published to Best Sellers, but just 10 titles per each 16 categories are accepted into the finalists; evaluated by merit, social contribution, overall presentation (cover, content, flow and originality) and of course, popular vote.  Who accepts the nominations?  The Academy’s voting membership is comprised of best-selling authors, literary agents and industry leaders, of course.

“Our goal is to help further connect this global community of authors, maintain excellence and
integrity of the book publishing industry, and raise awareness that the stories being told and the
authors who write them are worth our attention.,” said Kary Oberbrunner, founder of Author Academy Elite and the Author Academy Awards.

The top ten finalists in each category will be invited to present their book synopsis at an Author Academy Awards Red Carpet Session on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, in Columbus, Ohio. Winners will be announced later that evening at the Author Academy Awards Ceremony where they will be
invited to give an acceptance speech. Winners will also receive The Academy Book of Merit Award and the opportunity to present their book synopsis at the Igniting Souls Conference main stage on the days immediately following Author Academy Awards in front of a global audience.

Voting ends October 25th for the Author Academy’s 2019 awards.  To support Burden and Miami Beat, you can vote here: https://authoracademyawards.com/finalists2019/
