“Smoking Gun- A Murder Mystery” television production suspends production due to the Covid 19 virus

HONG KONG – 04-01-2020 (PRDistribution.com) — Un Nouveau Jour, a European finance company and its European production partners, New Street Pictures, Wanda-Halcyon Television and Memphis Writers group have announced that the television production “Smoking Gun-A Murder Mystery” has been put into “hiatus” status until May 2020 due to the Covid 19 outbreak. The production had just opened offices in Burbank, California and Madrid, Spain where it’s writer team, line producers and controller were located. Creative Script Supervisor, Pat Andrew, located in Burbank, California conveyed that they were heart-broken about going into “hiatus” but stated that they would be back in May of this year. Jon Augustine, former writer for Burn Notice and leader of the writer team in Madrid, Spain stated that he and his group would be staying in Madrid and would continue working on the project until they can return to their offices in May. He also confirmed that all the actors that travelled to Madrid, Spain for the read-through are all safely back in Los Angeles. 

Pat Andrew conveyed that he and Sutish Sharma would be working in the Los Angeles office on their return from “hiatus” in May. He also stated hopefully that they would both be in London, England at the end of April for a press conference with the streaming service if the quarantine there is lifted.”Smoking Gun” is the brain-child of award-winning producer and writer Sutish Sharma of New Street Pictures. The manuscript was considered one of the hot properties of 2016 due to its adaptability to the television series format and it’s cutting edge subject matter. In 2016, Mr Sharma, the creator of the project, sold the rights to producer, Pat Andrew, who helped arrange financing and worked with Mr Sharma as a creative partner. Mr Andrew sold Wanda-Halcyon Television to Un Nouveau Jour for an undisclosed seven figure sum but still works for the company as an executive consultant on certain television projects.”Smoking Gun” follows the fictional FBI investigation of a civil rights murder in Los Angeles during the turbulence of the 1980s. The case leads the show’s protagonist, a world-weary FBI special agent, to the Nicaraguan Contras and the inner sanctum of the Central Intelligence Agency and its connection to drug trafficking in Los Angeles.”We are very excited about “Smoking Gun” and look forward to getting production in Los Angeles back underway,” said Wanda -Halcyon showrunner Anne Marie Jordan.
