CALIFORNIA SOCCER PARK SCORES WITH MATRIX TURF & ORGANIC INFILL BY HELLAS

United States, California, Redding – 05-04-2020 (PRDistribution.com) — REDDING, CA – Soccer players, parents and coaches in the City of Redding have made their voices heard. Out with the old black rubber and in with Hellas’ new Geo Plus™ organic infill, which will keep all four fields 40 degrees cooler than pitches with traditional crumb rubber. The city council of Redding voted to pass a measure that has paved the way for Hellas Construction to install Matrix® turf with Helix® Technology at the 22-acre park in Redding.

“We are excited about bringing the next generation of turf and organic infill material to our community and for our kids,” says Kim Niemer, the Director of Community Services for the City of Redding. The City Council of Redding heard the message loud and clear from the soccer community and got the ball rolling for Hellas to begin installation of the $5.15 Million project.

In addition to the four synthetic turf fields and organic infill, Hellas will also install a GMAX Drain Pad. The GMAX Drain will provide an extra layer of safety by increasing shock absorbency as well as provide efficient water drainage of the fields. “The project to replace all four synthetic fields at the California Soccer Park is a significant investment and step forward in serving the recreational needs of our community,” Niemer added.

Over 250,000 people use the California Soccer Park (CA*SP) annually. Sports being played on the fields include Soccer, Lacrosse, Rugby, Flag Football, and Ultimate Frisbee. Teams from all over the world will play in tournaments at the CA*SP, which brings in millions of dollars to the local businesses. The Shasta Regional Soccer Association non-profit operates and manages the CA*SP for the City of Redding. The park’s main client is the Redding Youth Soccer League, which holds all practices and games there. The park is located on 15 Rapinoe Way, in honor of hometown U.S. women’s national soccer star forward Megan Rapinoe.

“We first reached out to the City of Redding and California Soccer Park back in February of 2018. They were in search of a high performing, durable system that would provide a safe place to play for the hard-working families and visitors of the Redding community,” said Hellas Business Development Manager in the Northern California Region Ben Johnson. “Hellas looks forward to a long partnership with CA*SP and The City of Redding,” added Johnson.

Matrix Turf fibers are manufactured at the Hellas Fibers Plant in Alabama and tufted into a durable, triple-layer backing at Hellas Textiles Plant in Georgia. The innovative spiral fiber shape improves foot stability and provides the closest thing to natural grass in terms of ball roll, reaction time and speed of movement.
