Assisted Living provider bounces back from COVID, uses groundbreaking cleaning technology to halt virus

United States, New York, Syracuse – 08-26-2020 (PRDistribution.com) — According to the CDC, older adults are most susceptible to the Coronavirus. In fact, eight out of 10 COVID-19-related deaths reported in the United States have been among adults aged 65 years and older. The virus’ high contagion rate among at-risk populations has businesses who cater to older adults concerned that, if one patron contracts it, it will quickly spread.

Hearth Management, a senior housing company headquartered in Camillus with Assisted Living and Memory Care communities in New York, Connecticut, Indiana, and Tennessee, is taking a page from mother nature’s rulebook by using all natural, hypochlorous acid to kill bacteria, stop viruses from spreading, and keep their buildings clean.

“When you hear the phrase hypochlorous acid, it’s easy to think of something out of a science fiction movie, but really it’s what our white blood cells produce in response to infections,” explained Jonathan Barbieri, The Hearth’s Sr. Vice President. “It’s a key part of our immune systems, and, since everyone’s immune system can use a little boost right now, it made perfect sense for us to start incorporating it into our cleaning standards.”

Each Hearth community is equipped with a generator that uses electricity to change the chemical structure of salt and water to produce a hypochlorous acid-based disinfectant. The cleaner as effective as bleach, but with no harmful chemicals, fumes or residues.

“When COVID-19 first hit, we knew we had to spring into action to get these generators into each of our buildings,” explained Barbieri. “Overall, we’ve been very successful in terms of keeping the virus at bay, and there’s no doubt in my mind this technology has something to do with it.”

Using the generators’ cleaning solutions regularly is part of The Hearth’s Total Coverage 360 cleaning standards. As part of the standards, all common areas, including walls, carpeting, and furniture are sprayed a minimum of twice a day. Resident apartments are also sprayed at pre-scheduled times.

“I’d recommend cleaning with electrolyzed water to any business,” said Barbieri.  “It’s all-natural, highly effective, and has done wonders for us.”
