THOMAS SNEE INDUCTED INTO IAOTP’S HALL OF FAME

Being selected by the International Association of Top Professionals is an esteemed honor, as only 10 IAOTP members are inducted into the exclusive Hall of Fame. Mr. Snee was previously honored at IAOTP’s 2018 Annual Awards Gala which was held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City for his selection as Top Executive Director of the Year and also for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is an advocate for Veterans, who has a proven record of honor and professionalism. We felt adding Mr. Snee to our exclusive Hall of Fame is a well-deserved honor. Mr. Snee is accepting this recognition for his 30+ years of experience of naval service and serving over 50,000 Sea Service and family members on various boards and committees for military and Veterans benefits. In October of 2019, Mr. Snee stepped down as the Twelfth National Executive Director for the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia. Throughout his entire career, he has demonstrated success in each role he has served. In his scope of many responsibilities, he was also managing officer of the National Headquarters Staff, National Board of Directors, and Co-Chairs the Military Coalition, representing over 33 veteran organizations of over 5.5 Million Active Duty, Reserve, Veterans and Retirees. 

Mr. Snee is a retired Navy Master Chief/Surface Warfare Specialist, and a Vietnam Veteran with over 30 years of naval service. He has testified before the House and Senate Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Congressional Committees. In 2014, he served as a panel member for the Senate Congressional Educational Reform for Educators. A champion for military and family benefits, he is a dedicated, compassionate leader, while spearheading key initiatives on their behalf for earned benefits to influence members of Congress and the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security and the Veteran Affairs.

Before embarking on his professional career path, Mr. Snee earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts/Psychology from Excelsior College and continued his studies to obtain a Master’s in Education Leadership from George Mason University. In 2016 he was bestowed an Honorary Bachelor’s Degree for Alumni Services, from Excelsior College. and was awarded the “2019 College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) Distinguished Alumni Award”. In 2019, Mr. Snee gave the Commencement Address for George Mason University. 

Upon graduating from high school, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as Force Master Chief, at the Navy Recruiting Command, Command Master Chief, aboard the USS AMERICA (CV 66) and Navy Recruiting District. He served as Curriculum Director/Course Supervisor for the Chief of Naval Technical Training, and Program Manager, for the Chief of Naval Personnel Command for Senior Enlisted development. As course manager, he was charged to develop measurable resources in joint leadership curricular studies to enhance qualitative training while reducing student attrition. Mr. Snee is a graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy at Naval War College.

Following his Navy retirement, Mr. Snee worked at the FRA Headquarters as the Veterans Service Officer and Membership/Branch Development Coordinator. In August of 2000, he transitioned careers to become a Middle School Teacher and Administrator. With his strong education and training background, he was charged with managing curriculum development, for student assessments, appraisals, and reviews, for incoming high school freshmen. He currently serves on the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Catholic school certification, team. He taught American History, Government, Geography, Economics, and English for over 15 years. 

Throughout his remarkable career, Mr. Snee has been an active member within his community and has received numerous awards, accolades’ and has been featured in several publications over the course of his diverse career. This year he will be considered for an exclusive interview on TIP Radio and will be inducted into IAOTP’s exclusive Hall of Fame. In 2019 he graced the front cover of T.I.P. (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. Mr. Snee was chosen as Top Executive Director of the Year for 2018 and also was awarded with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award given by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). 

In past years, Mr. Snee was the recipient of multiple citations and several accolades from the WHO’s WHO circuits including: Worldwide Leadership/Achievement in Industry and Profession; American Teachers; BusinessProfessionals,Executive of the Year Award for 2018 & 2019; Lifetime American Achievement Award; The American Achievement Award for 2018; Eagle Award as the Top Male Entrepreneur for 2018; Teacher of the Year for 2011 and was inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame  from the Willoughby-Eastlake Ohio Schools in 1997. He was awarded “2018 Top 100 Registry Leaders and Professionals Lifetime Achievement Award for Veteran Affairs and “Man of the Year 2018”

Aside from his successful career, Mr. Snee is also a mentor and advocate for local Boy Scout Troops. He is a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Knights of Columbus, Surface Navy Association (SNA) and National Eagle Scout Association (NESA). Mr. Snee serves on many boards including: Excelsior College, Albany, NY; and the Board of Educators at Mount Vernon/Gunston Hall (historical sites); as well as the Navy Memorial Foundation, Washington, DC. He is an author of two books: “What’s Up, Life” and “You Raise Me Up”. His third book is due out in later this year.

Looking back, Mr. Snee believes his life has been noted with many professional “footnotes”. One bestowed by parents and students alike is from Robert H. Shaffer, “We must never view young people as empty bottles, but as candles to be lit”. His favorites are: “It’s always too soon to quit” and “Output is the success of a total commitment and involvement”! He personally coined: “I am but a Humble Servant to the Success of others”, “Listen, Love, Mentor, Coach, Let Go and Lead to Actions of Success”, and “Inclusion is life’s template to saying YES”.

Mr. Snee was married to the late Karen A. Habina for 46 years, from Willoughby, OH. The Snee’s have four children: Janet Basselgia of Springfield, VA, an elementary and STEM School Teacher, Nativity Catholic School, Burke, VA; Denise, Special Ed Teacher of Goose Greek, SC; David, a U. S. Navy Captain, Norfolk, VA, Commanding Officer, USS VICKSBURG (CG69) and Timothy, of Woodbridge, VA, with FedEx. They have six grandchildren and he currently resides in Burke, VA.
