A Free Booking Platform that Amplifies Diversity? AmptUp Levels the Playing Field for Indie Artists

Austin, Texas, United States – 03-09-2022 (PR Distribution™) –

AUSTIN, TEXAS – MARCH 9, 2022 AmptUp, a revolutionary live music booking marketplace, announces their launch in Austin, Texas at SXSW.

Much more than another online booking platform, AmptUp aims to change the way Venues identify and seek out new artists with patent-pending technology and data from hundreds of hours of deep listening in one-on-one conversations with Musicians & Venues.

Co-founded by Texas native and Holly Hagerman and her husband, a European nationally touring Musician and Venue Production professional at some of Europe’s most renowned Venues (The MonteCarlo, Cannes Film Festival, Nice & Monaco Operas, and more) alongside some of history’s greatest acts (Prince, U2, Alicia Keys, Sting, and more) at the height of the pandemic, AmptUp is poised to level the playing field by bringing fair pay, DEI, and transparency to the music booking industry.

“Live music is a $31B industry that is messy, broken, and severely inequitable. It has been a rough two years. But even pre-pandemic Musicians and Venues could both agree that the system was broken, with no real solutions in site. However, they came together like never before – adopting technology like never before – to survive, making this the perfect time to enact real change. Our tools go beyond anything that currently exists to help both sides build a relationship based on transparency and fair pay standards,” says AmptUp founder Holly Hagerman.

“We’re demonstrating a completely new way of conducting business as a live music community, one that provides equitable access to employment opportunities and cuts booking time in half. As a culture, we can no longer claim to love Music, and standby watching Musicians and Venues struggle to feed their families; expecting them to work long, late, tiring hours, and then show up for their ‘real’ job from 9 to 5,” says Hagerman.

AmptUp connects Venues and talent buyers with artists using advanced search filters backed with patent-pending technology that go beyond the usual search parameters, allowing Venues to see when artists are going on tour, whether they’re represented by an agent, and even what they sound like.

Artists get free and unlimited access to all of AmptUp’s premium features, making it easy for them to plan and book tours and get paid with the use of contracts and handling payment for Musicians upfront. Unlike most online booking platforms, artists only pay when they’ve booked a gig.

AmptUp is the first and only online platform to offer pay transparency and self-reporting analytics around diverse and equitable hiring practices to address systemic bias and inequity faced by performers in marginalized populations, which is further built into the platform with gamification features like badges so artists have better visibility into who is getting booked where.

After completing a successful VIP Musicians and Venues campaign in Austin, Texas, AmptUp is actively enrolling Musicians and Venues with plans to expand to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and New Orleans in 2022 before rolling out nationwide.

The total value of the live music economy was estimated to reach $31B in 2022, according to the Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2018-2022 report by PwC. After taking a more than $30B hit during the pandemic, the industry is on course to rebuild within the next five years with more spent on booking platforms and software services than ever before.
