London-based company Raters acquires a competitive movie platform MONA

United Kingdom, London – 03-24-2022 (PR Distribution™) –

  • Raters is a recommendation platform for promotion of digital products through the use of Machine Learning algorithms.
  • The company has just acquired MONA, a competitive movie platform.
  • Raters aims to raise funds in spring to scale further and enter the video games market.

Raters, a UK company developing an AdTech platform for promotion of digital products – such as films, TV shows, video games, and e-books – announced earlier this week that it merges with MONA, a social network for movie lovers. During the last 3 years, MONA accumulated a loyal userbase of film fans across Eastern Europe and particularly CIS region.

Raters focuses on promotion of digital products to highly targeted audience using their recommendation algorithms. Their value proposition to the clients is “enriched user targeting, providing enhanced advertising insights and improved Return on Investment.” The platform is available on iOS, Android, and Web in 37 languages.

The terms of the deal are not publicly disclosed, but Raters confirmed that all MONA users who decide to migrate their profiles to Raters will receive a 3-month PRO membership for free. Oleg Mishchenko, Chief Product Officer at Raters, will supervise the technical merge of the two platforms.

“We are delighted to welcome the members of MONA society to our global community of movie enthusiasts” – commented Rasim Aliyev, Raters Co-founder and CEO. “We are looking forward to working with the MONA team to fulfill our aim of becoming the number one recommendation platform for digital products.”

Raters builds its competitive advantage around its Machine Learning algorithms that determine similarity (correlation) of tastes between different users. Last summer the company filed a patent with the US Trademark and Patent Office.

Small Harbour, a consulting company based in Birmingham, has been advising Raters on the deal. They have also led the latest fundraising of Raters in February last year, and have been engaged to facilitate another funding round this spring.

“We believe that acquisition of MONA will further strengthen Raters’ presence in the Eastern Europe, making the company even more appealing to globally-oriented AdTech investors” – Malachy McDonnell, CEO of Small Harbour.

Raters aims to raise funds with the purpose of attracting new filmmakers and distributors, and starting to expand their offerings into the video games market. Half of the funding raised will be spent on R&D and Marketing teams in Ukraine.
