Springfield Dentist Discusses Accelerated Invisalign® and Other Discreet Approaches to Orthodontic Treatment

Springfield, Missouri, United States – 10-18-2022 (PR Distribution™) –

Dr. Grant Olson—the head of Innovative Dental in Springfield, MO—explains how Invisalign® clear aligners can serve as a discreet and convenient alternative to braces.

Springfield, MO — Orthodontic interventions are designed to address misalignment in order to help patients obtain straighter teeth and a more functional bite. Traditionally, the most common method for achieving these results involved metal braces. However, the prominent brackets and wires typically associated with metal braces are often viewed as aesthetically disruptive and inconvenient, leading some patients to avoid seeking treatment. Springfield cosmetic dentist Grant Olson, DDS and his team at Innovative Dental understand these concerns, and they offer Invisalign® as a discreet alternative to traditional orthodontics. Using this advanced clear aligner system, Dr. Olson is able to help patients obtain straighter teeth while avoiding many of the drawbacks associated with braces.

The Invisalign® system works using a series of custom-made clear aligners that are designed to gently and progressively shift the teeth into the desired position. According to Dr. Olson, the treatment can be ideal for correcting gaps, spaces, overcrowding, and bite alignment issues such as underbite, overbite, and crossbite. Each set of aligners is worn for approximately two weeks before being swapped for the next set in the series. The aligners are made of a high-quality plastic material that is nearly invisible when placed on the teeth. Furthermore, unlike metal braces, Invisalign® aligners are not affixed to the teeth and can be removed while patients eat, drink, or tend to their oral hygiene routine. Dr. Olson remarks that patients who have experienced both traditional braces and Invisalign® often note the enhanced comfort and convenience of Invisalign®.

As a part of his mission to provide the most efficient and effective treatments for Innovative Dental’s patients, Dr. Olson offers Accelerated Invisalign® for qualified candidates. By incorporating specialized techniques and acceleration devices into the normal Invisalign® process, Dr. Olson reports that patients can reduce their treatment times by up to 70%. Typical treatment times for Invisalign® are usually between 12 and 18 months. However, Dr. Olson explains that some patients have been able to achieve their desired outcome in as few as two to three months using Innovative Dental’s accelerated approach. That said, he also indicates that compliance is a key part of treatment success: patients should wear their aligners as directed for at least 20-22 hours a day, or else their results may be compromised.

Dr. Olson and his team understand how smile aesthetics can influence a person’s confidence while at work, school, or other social settings. In his view, Invisalign® offers patients a discreet and comfortable way of obtaining a straighter, healthier, and more functional smile. However, not every patient is an ideal candidate for the treatment. According to Dr. Olson, Invisalign® is most suitable for those experiencing mild to moderate cases of misalignment. In cases where patients have more severe misalignment, bite irregularities, or jaw-related concerns, he asserts that an alternative approach may be necessary. In these cases, the team at Innovative Dental offers a variety of traditional orthodontic interventions—including braces—to help patients achieve their smile goals in the most effective way possible.

In cases where patients are primarily interested in aesthetic improvement, Dr. Olson notes that porcelain veneers—thin, custom-made shells of porcelain bonded to the fronts and sides of the teeth—can be used to conceal gaps between the teeth and more minor cases of misalignment. This process is sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics.” Dr. Olson adds that veneers can also address a range of other dental concerns, including chips, cracks, and discoloration, enabling them to provide comprehensive smile rejuvenation. However, he cautions that veneers are not a true orthodontic solution, and they cannot address bite alignment issues.

Dr. Olson states that patients now have more options than ever when it comes to obtaining a straighter smile. In order to figure out the best option for each individual’s needs, he recommends visiting a qualified dentist or orthodontist for a personalized consultation.
