While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual awards gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.  www.iaotp.com/award-gala

Gavin is being honored with the Top Influential Entrepreneur Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award as a veteran sports industry leader and entrepreneur with over two decades of NBA ownership.

Gavin Maloof and his family have always been involved in sports, with each of the five Maloof siblings participating in high school and collegiate athletics. Their passion for sports led them to become owners of professional sports teams, most notably the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings of the NBA. Among the Maloofs’ successes throughout their 17 years as NBA owners are:

Achieving ten playoff appearances with the Kings and Rockets, being the first ownership group in NBA history to lead two different teams to the Conference Finals (Rockets in 1981 and Kings in 2002), and the Maloof-owned Sacramento Monarchs won the 2005 WNBA Championship.

From 1999 until 2007, the Kings sold out 354 consecutive games, one of the longest streaks in NBA history. In a league-wide study performed by J.D. Powers and Associates, The Kings were ranked first in the NBA in overall fan experience in 2001 and 2003.

Even more impressive than the family’s sporting achievements has been the Maloofs’ considerable community impact. The Maloofs place a great value on positively benefiting the communities around them. A few of the family’s generous gestures include: The Maloof family provided and dispersed more than $20 million in in-kind gifts to various philanthropic groups during their ownership of the Kings.

Gavin and his brother George Maloof Jr., established and developed Las Vegas’ Fiesta and Palms hotel-casinos and has been active in several humanitarian efforts around Southern Nevada for the past 30 years.

Aside from sports Gavin is also involved in other ventures. Gavin is an executive partner with STAXOS, a technology, and telecom company, he is a proud sponsor of the award-winning Tequila Comisario, is an actor and he also plays guitar.

Throughout his remarkable career, Mr. Maloof has received awards, accolades, and worldwide recognition for his accomplishments. He will receive his Top Influential Entrepreneur and Lifetime Achievement awards at IAOTP’s annual award gala in December 2023. This year he will be considered for an article in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine.

Stephanie Cirami, President of IAOTP, stated, “Choosing Gavin for this honor was easy for our panel to make. He is knowledgeable, driven, and possesses a tremendous entrepreneurial spirit. We look forward to honoring him at the gala.”

Looking back, Gavin attributes his success to his entrepreneurial spirit, passion, strong work ethic and his family Colleen, Adrienne, Joe, Phillip, and George. Gavin says that his family have all worked as a team to become successful and battle the competition. Gavin’s mother Colleen Maloof has significantly contributed to education, women’s leadership, and Hispanic business growth. His sister Adrienne Maloof is a well-known businesswoman, animal rights activist, and television celebrity, best known for her appearance on the popular reality television show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Phil Maloof is a vital member of the family’s music and television/film production ventures and the company’s brand development business, which is currently seeing rapid international expansion with its latest brand, DrinkAde.

When not working he enjoys traveling.  For the future, he hopes to inspire other entrepreneurs to “Go Big or Go Home.”
