Dr. Monika Mathur selected as Top Medical Officer of the Year by IAOTP

Monika Mathur, M.D., Chief Medical Quality & Medical Officer for Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance in Fort Worth, was recently selected as Top Medical Officer of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Medical field.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, field longevity, and community contributions. With almost two decades of medical professional experience, Dr. Mathur has certainly proven herself as an asset in her field.

Dr. Monika Mathur is the Chief Quality & Medical Officer of Texas Health Alliance, where she oversees hospital operations, strategic growth, performance based improvement, quality and patient safety programs.  She has been integral in developing a higher level of medical services to a growing community in Fort Worth, Texas.

Before embarking on her most current career path, Dr. Mathur formerly held the positions of medical director of performance improvement at USMD Inc. in Fort Worth and assistant professor of family medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She has also served as the quality chief at the Reliant Medical Group in Worcester, Massachusetts, while simultaneously caring for patients, reviewing performance improvement data, and implementing quality improvement projects on patient safety, performance data, and patient satisfaction.

Dr. Monika Mathur received a Bachelor’s Degree with honors from the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, and a doctorate in medicine from the Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. 

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Mathur has received many awards, accolades and has been recognized for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the medical profession. This year, she will be considered for an exclusive feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and IAOTP’S Empowered Woman of the Year Award. Dr. Mathur has been an active community member since moving to Fort Worth in 2013, serving as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the March of Dimes DFW Chapter, a member of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees, and on the Curriculum Development & Admissions Committees for Fort Worth’s newest Burnett School of Medicine with a focus on developing empathetic scholars.  Additionally she serves as an influential board member on several other healthcare delivery hospitals and joint ventures in her community.

Looking back, Dr. Mathur attributes her success to her perseverance and passion for people and her community.  She attributes her style of leadership and practice to the several inspiring mentors and role models she has met along her journey including Drs John Bachman & Robin Richman.  She enjoys spending her free time with her two sons and volunteering to bring her family, friends and entire community together and engaged towards a common goal to bring greater meaning and joy.
