Multiple Realities – Solo Art Exhibition by Paul Amundarain at The DAM Gallery

United States, Florida, Miami – 05-13-2019 (PRDistribution.com) — The Directed Art Modern (DAM) is thrilled to present Multiple Realities by Paul Amundarain. Inspired by individual perspective, Paul Amundarain ties together the great unknown to one’s own tangible reality in Multiple Realities.

The DAM Gallery in Miami’s Little River district will host an opening reception, Thursday, May 16th, 2019. Multiple Realities encompasses an understanding of both the connection we share as humans, as well as our ability to experience an infinite amount of realities that differ from one another.

The collection utilizes a multitude of medias including acrylic on canvas paintings, mixed media pieces, as well as sculptures. The heavy use of mirror throughout Multiple Realities prompts the viewer to look inward and analyze their own personal perspective.

Artist Paul Amundarain works to bring attention to three realities in his collection: Reality of Nature, Human Reality, and Universe Reality. The reality of nature is one he describes as “an implicit state that was given us,” while the human reality is explained as “all the social spectrums to which human beings can travel in their life.” The most overwhelming of the three for Amundarain is the universe reality. He sees the human race as being all “in one small bubble floating around the cosmos” in which we “internalize this and look toward a huge void where our mind only reaches an edge of understanding.” It is with these three realities in mind that Multiple Realities was created, pulling on the often overwhelming feeling that comes along with the great unknown.

Born in 1985 in Caracas, Venezuela, Paul Amundarain has learned the lessons of survival in many low income and depressed areas. He utilizes materials and objects that have been discarded by other social sectors as a source of artistic mediums. He is also noted for working with the grid. Through this method he allows modernity to be structured, while already deconstructed. His work brings to light relevant social problems, especially pertaining to the political and socio-economic instability and massive emigration happening in his home country of Venezuela. It is with this Latin American heritage that Amundarain is connected to the idea of the mirror representing a form of our reality, tied to Carlos Fuentes’ historical work: The Buried Mirror which travels through the long history of the Latin American people, noting the symbolism behind uncovering their buried mirror, or their true reality and identity; one that had been hidden under the surface of the ground for so many years.

It is through the Dam’s unwavering commitment to supporting emerging artists that co-founders Prapopoulos and Francisco, have taken today’s ever-stagnant model of the traditional vanity gallery and turned it on its side- to create something entirely new and unprecedented with The DAM. The Directed Art Modern serves as a 360’ service to and for artists at all levels in their careers. The DAM is able to not only encourage the artist but it is also able to negotiate artist terms and navigate the labyrinth of today’s modern art market seeking only the best opportunities for the artist to move forward in his/her career. Thus, providing each DAM artist with a creative sanctum and leaving the artist to be concerned with nothing but his/her artistic vision and exploration.
